Job Cuts Announced at Sovereign Bank
Friday, December 19th, 2008Sovereign Bank, one of the largest banking institutions in the Northeastern United States, says it plans to cut 1,000 of its 12,000 remaining jobs through next year.
Sovereign’s cuts are the latest by a major bank in the face of the declining economy. Sovereign’s acting chief executive Kirk Walters said the job cuts follow an examination of its 2009 budget.
