Sony Corporation Announces 8000 Job Cuts

December 22nd, 2008

Sony Corporation has announced that it would cut 8,000 jobs, or 4 percent of its global work force.

The Japanese electronics and entertainment company, which has 185,000 employees worldwide, said it would complete the layoffs by the end of March, 2010. It did not give a country breakdown for the job cuts but said they would come from its electronics business, which has 160,000 workers.

This announcement thus proves that absolutely noone is immune to the latest recession the country is currently facing.
